Biography
Dr. Penghua Ying received his Ph.D. from the Harbin Institute of Technology in 2022. From 2022 to 2025, he conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Physical Chemistry at Tel Aviv University, Israel. His research interests focuses on the intersection of mechanics, physics, and machine learning, specifically:
Development of machine learning potentials frameworks and models
Advanced molecular dynamics (MD) methods.
Non-equilibrium dynamics simulations of interfaces from nano to micro scales.
Multi-scale analysis of thermo-mechanical coupling failure mechanisms in advanced devices.
To date, Dr. Penghua Ying has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers, with multiple publications as (co-)first or corresponding author in prestigious international journals (including Nature Nanotech., J. Mech. Phys. Solids, ACS Nano, Nano Lett., Adv. Funct. Mater.). These work has garnered over 1,700 citations on Google Scholar. Additionally, he is an active developer and contributor to the open-source molecular dynamics software GPUMD (https://gpumd.org).

Our research group is currently looking for motivated students to join the team. We plan to recruit 1–2 Master’s students and 1–2 Ph.D. students annually. A background in Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field is highly welocmed.
