Tao Yang

Professor of Instrumentation Science and Technology

 

Tao Yang is a Ph.D., Professor, and doctoral supervisor. He earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong University and completed joint doctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has been recognized with numerous honors, including National Young Talent, the Ministry of Education’s “Entrepreneurship Star,” the Communist Youth League’s “Entrepreneurship Hero,” Shaanxi Province Special Support Program Young Top Talent, Xi’an Leading Talent, Xi’an High-Tech Zone Hard-Tech Talent, Forbes China “30 Under 30,” and GG Robotics’ “Made-in-China Industry Figure — Spark Award.” He has received more than 30 awards in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, including the national first prize in “Maker in China.” To date, he has published over 10 papers, including 12 indexed by SCI; he holds more than 40 domestic invention patents and 4 U.S. patents. With dual experience in both industry and academia, he has successfully incubated multiple technology companies. His work and interviews have been featured by leading media such as CCTV News, CCTV Morning News, the CCTV documentary “Chasing Light,” Xinhua News Agency, China Economic Net, and Shaanxi Daily. His research focuses on micro–nano optoelectronic devices, robotic vision, and embodied intelligence.
