Dr. Xing Yang is a full Professor of Institute of Turbomachinery at the Xi’an Jiaotong University. He obtained his Ph.D. from XJTU, during which he had a one-year academic stay with Professor Terry Simon at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, US. From November 2021, he spent two years with Professor Bernhard Weigand at the Institute of Aerospace Thermodynamics (ITLR) of University of Stuttgart Germany as an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Researcher. Later he was employed as a Research Associate at the Institute of Aircraft Propulsion Systems (ILA) at the same university, working in the German Research Foundation (DFG) Collaborative Research Center “SynTrac” with Professor Stephan Staudacher. In November 2025, he returned back to XJTU as a full professor. His major interests include experimental measurements and numerical simulations of flow, heat transfer, and cooling problems within complicated turbine flows, advanced novel turbine cooling designs, and particulate deposition effects on turbine aerothermal performance. Added value of the results have been applied to endwall cooling and internal impingement cooling designs for turbine blades in industrial applications. Dr. Yang has currently managed 10 scientific research projects and has participated in more than ten scientific research projects as a technical director or a principal member. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal or conference papers and gave five keynotes at international conferences or workshops. He was awarded the “Annual Top Ten Academic New Stars” of XJTU (2021), Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers (2020, with Host Professor Bernhard Weigand), ASME YETEP Award (2020), National Postdoctoral Program for Innovative Talents (2018), ASME IGTI Student Scholarship (2018) and "Aviation Powers Nation with Chinese Heart" Scholarship (2018).
