Da-Gang Guo, born in 1975, Ph.D., is a professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, where he also serves as a doctoral supervisor. Since 2000, Prof. Guo has been engaged in research on bioactive bone cement, nano-biocomposites materials, bioceramics, bone tissue engineering scaffolds, new medical tissue adhesives, biomedical polymers, special wastewater treatment materials, and energy-saving and environmental protection materials.
From 1994 to 1998, Prof. Guo pursued his undergraduate studies at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Northwestern Polytechnical University. He continued there for his master's degree from 1998 to 2000. Between 2000 and 2005, Prof. Guo pursued his Ph.D. at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University. In June 2005, he began working at the same university, where he was promoted to associate professor in July 2007 and to full professor at the end of 2013. From July 2009 to July 2010, Prof. Guo was a visiting scholar at Harvard Medical School and MIT, working under the guidance of Professor Jeffery Karp at Harvard Medical School and Professor Robert Langer at MIT, focusing on bone tissue engineering and bone adhesives.
Prof. Guo was selected for the "Young Faculty Training Program" at Xi'an Jiaotong University (2008) and the "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program" by the Ministry of Education (2008). Prof. Guo is also a member of Chinese Society for Composite Materials and Chinese Society for Biomaterials, and also serves as a reviewer for several prestigious international journals, including Biomaterials, Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, International Journal of Nanomedicine, Ceramics International, and Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, as well as domestic core journals such as the Chinese Journal of Biomedical Engineering. Prof. Guo's Ph.D. dissertation was awarded the "Xi'an Jiaotong University Excellent Doctoral Dissertation" (2006) and the "Shaanxi Province Excellent Doctoral Dissertation" (2008).
As a principal investigator, Prof. Guo has led over ten projects, including three projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, one New Century Excellent Talents project by the Ministry of Education, one New Teacher Fund project for doctoral points by the Ministry of Education, one science and technology project in Shaanxi Province, one returnee project in Shaanxi Province, two special scientific research projects funded by the basic scientific research business funds of central universities, and one science and technology project in Xi'an. Additionally, Prof. Guo has participated in six other national or provincial-level projects.
To date, Prof. Guo has published over 80 papers in important journals in the field of biomaterials, such as "PNAS (IF=11.2)," "Biomaterials (IF=12.5)," "Acta Biomaterialia (IF=8.9)," “ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces (IF=9.2)”, and "Journal of Materials Sicence & Techology (IF=10.9)." More than50 of these papers are indexed by SCI, with his papers being cited nearly 2000 times. Prof. Guo has applied for seven national invention patents as the first inventor, of which five have been authorized.
