Brief Introduction:
This book describes and explains one approach, the chromatic methodology, for the intelligent monitoring of complex systems. It demonstrates that chromatic processing is analogous to human vision yet also extends into a wide range of non-optical domains. Taking a practical approach that uses many examples and graphs, the book presents the origin and methodology of chromaticity, describing characteristics of chromatic systems and chromatic processing algorithms such as H, S, V transformation and basic x, y, z algorithms. It then delves into the various applications of chromatic methods, in areas including electrical plasmas, industrial liquids, broadband interferometry and polarimetry, biological tissues and fluids, and acoustical and vibration signals. The art program includes color and b&w photos and images, and examples of graphical polar plots. Jones is affiliated with the Center for Intelligent Monitoring Systems at the University of Liverpool, UK.
