Malaysian Nuclear Agency: As Technical and Scientific Support Organisation (TSO) in NDT

2011926日(星期一)上午9:00

报告内容简介

The Malaysian Nuclear Agency, or Nuclear Malaysia, as a premier R&D organisation in nuclear science and technology in Malaysia, plays an active role and contributes to the implementation and realisation of national science and technology policies to ensure that it remains to be a relevant public research institute. Currently, Nuclear Malaysia consists of four programmes, namely research and technology development, technical support, commercialisation and technology planning, and management services programme. These programmes will provide means for Nuclear Malaysia to focus its activities, including a renewed interest in nuclear power as an alternative source of energy for the nation. In this regard, Nuclear Malaysia will be given the role as the Technical and Scientific Support Organisation (TSO) for nuclear power plant (NPP), and has been tasked to coordinate the activities of the human resource development and management for the NPP program. A National Nuclear Policy has been adopted as a guide for the development of the national nuclear sector, in both power and non-power applications. One of this Policy’s sectoral strategic thrust is industry, with nondestructive testing (NDT) a critical component of the industrial sector. NDT testing is one of the main and important non-power applications widely used by industry for testing of a variety of components for quality control, quality assurance, and monitoring of plant integrity during construction, operation and maintenance. Thus, NDT is essentially used in the operation and maintenance of complex industrial processes and plants, and crucially towards the building of Malaysia’s first nuclear power plant NPP.
