It is a pleasure to accept your manuscript entitled "A Low Gain-Variation LC-VCO with Mutual Inductive Tuning for KVCO Linearity Compensation" in its current form for publication in the IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters.  

 

课题组近期完成的采用互感耦合调谐技术的高增益线性度LC压控振荡器芯片研究成果发表在IEEE微波理论与技术领域顶刊IEEE MWCL上。该工作是课题组在前期高线性度环形振荡器基础上完成的又一高线性度VCO系列工作。进一步突破了LC VCO的高线性度关键技术。芯片采用创新的互感耦合调谐技术对可变电容的非线性进行补偿,实现了截至目前最好的增益线性度(优于6.1%),同时控制电压线性范围达到1.3V,比现有设计提高了60%以上。该工作主要由课题组博士研究生王卡楠完成。

Abstract—A high-linearity LC-voltage-controlled oscillator(LC-VCO) with a mutual coupled inductive tuning technique is proposed to reduce the VCO-gain (Kvco) variation induced by varactors in finite liner region. The oscillator is fabricated in a standard 180-nm CMOS process occupying 0.88 mm × 0.9 mm and consuming 3.6-mW from mixed 0.9-V/1.8-V supply voltage. With the variable effective inductance of the resonant tank, the proposed topology achieves a low gain variation of less than 6.1%, possessing a linear-tuning control-voltage range from 0.5 V to 1.8 V and operating from 3.40 GHz to 4.04 GHz. The phase noise is measured to be -108.59 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset with a carrier frequency of 4.04 GHz and the figure of merit (FoM) is -173.8 dBc/Hz.
