sub-units.Propagationofacousticwaveinsuchtwodimensionalsolid/airphononiccrystalsis
investigatedbythefiniteelementmethod(FEM)withtheBlochtheory.Theirbandstructure,wave
filteringproperty,andthephysicalmechanismresponsibleforthebroadenedbandgapareexplored.
The correspondingordinaryphononiccrystalwithouthierarchicalfeatureisusedforcomparison.
Obtainedresultsshowthatthesolid/airhierarchicalphononiccrystalspossesstunableoutstanding
band gapfeatures,whicharefavorableforapplicationssuchassoundinsulationandvibration
attenuation.
