Effect of Particle Size and Heating Rate on Pyrolysis of Waste Capsicum Stalks biomassJournal:
Energy Sources, Part ASummary:
The pyrolysis behavior of capsicum stalks biomass has been investigated by TG-DSC. Results show that pyrolysis reaction constant calculated by Arrhenius expression increases with increasing particle size, which is quite contrary to the pyrolysis characteristics of other fossil fuels. It is supposed that the grindability of various parts as well as the content of hemicelluloses, cellulose and lignin of various sizes range of biomass; a lower ash amount of the large-size may be one of the causes as well. By comparing the effect of different heating rates on pyrolysis, pyrolysis reaction constant gained a peak at 20℃/min followed by 30℃/min, and 10℃/min minimum. That may be due to the competition between thermal hysteresis effects and driving force originated from different heating rate. Hence, the different compositions in various particle sizes and the suitable heating rate should be paid more attention for the pyrolysis of biomass.Co-author:
