Summary:
The non-monotonic change of fluorescence intensity from Safranine T was observed experimentally
by adding gold colloids to the Safranine T aqueous solution. Increasing the content of gold colloids
leads to the fluorescence emission peak red shift and increases first and then decreases. We believe
that one of the important reasons of the fluorescence changing and shifting is due to the resonance
light scattering from gold nanoparticles which is stimulated by the fluorescence of Safranine T and
is tunable by the shell thickness of the ST that coated around the gold particles.
