While most theoretical works focus on perfect crystals, all realistic materials contain disorder and defects. The modern physics build upon the symmetry of subjects, which determines most of the physical quantities. How does the disorder potential affect the symmetry and further renormalize the Bloch wave function, is an open question for various systems. While previous works usually find an enhanced symmetry under disorder impurity distribution, we show that if layertronic pseudo-spin is taking account, it could generally reduce the total symmetry. Numerical calculations on low energy models and realistic materials have re-confirmed our theoretical arguments. As a bonus work, we recently evaluated proper spin and orbital current in dislocation defects, at another paper on PRB.
