In thepresentstudy,theChebyshevspectralelementmethodcoupledwiththeimplicitNewmarktime
integralmethodisinvestigatedtosimulateacousticfield.Theapproachisfirstappliedtoanumerical
example.Inthiscase,thenumericalresultisconsistentwiththereferencesolution,andtheinfluenceof
time stepandNewmarkfactoronnumericalaccuracyisstudied.Theresultingfiguresindicatethatthe
smallerthetimestepandNewmarkfactorare,thehigherthenumericalaccuracywillbe.Thedivision
patternofcomputationaldomaincanaffectthenumericalaccuracy,whichindicatesthatthenumerical
accuracy canbeimprovedwhenthegridnodestendtobedistributeduniformlyinthecomputational
domain.Secondly,anumericalexampleisusedtoinvestigatetheabsorbingboundarycondition,the
result ofwhichindicatesthattheabsorbingboundaryconditionabsorbsthenumericalreflection
whereastheDirichletboundaryconditioncausesthenumericalreflection.Moreover,theapproachis
also employedforwaveequationwithsourcetermssuchasmonopole,dipoleandquadrapole,whose
numericalresultskeeptheirradiationtraitsintactly.
