- Summary:
- Two novel aliphatic amine-containing dimethacrylate monomers were synthesized from the ring-opening reaction of hexamethylene diamine and ethylenediamine with glycidyl methacrylate. The UV-curable and heat-curable formulations were prepared with amine-containing dimethacrylate and active diluents. The curing process was controlled by Fourier transform infrared analysis. The mechanical, physical, and thermal characterizations of the UV-cured films and the UV-heat-cured films were investigated. Thermo-gravimetric analysis of the cured films revealed that the thermo-oxidative stability of the UV-heat-cured films was higher than that of the UV-cured samples. An increase in the cross-linker content caused an increase both in tensile strength and in the elongation values of the UV-heat-cured films. It was also found that the water absorption capacities and gel content of the UV-heat-cured dimethacrylated films depended on the amount of the active diluents.
